Is a leading international insurance and financial services organization. Worked at client site for 2 years for database migration and support activities.


Bloomberg –  Fixed Income
The projects involve gathering financial/securities data from various sources and storing it on the system in a central repository. Based on the nature of data in different projects, this data is formatted as per user requirements and workitems are created so that analyst can work on this data. This data is then used by business for various activities as per requirement.

Some of the project include

Mutual Fund (M13F) – Loading the M13F from (A government form) on to the system in a predetermined format. Analysts work on this loaded data, and perform a Market Value check on this data, and this verified data is then exported to a file and used for further business process activities.

Mutual Fund – This project included loading key information at fund and security level from financial documents. Analysts then do a verification/correction of this data before exporting it for various other business activities.

Netjets – Netjets is a company in the airline industry which deals in partial ownerhip of airplanes.
They have a large number of databases based in various regions in the US. An offshore team was set up to monitor database activities for these databases. The other role was of application db support where database requests for tuning queries, writing queries and procedures for updating the database for a particular event.

Telia Sonera – It is a Swedish Telecommunications company. An offshore development and dba team was set up for development and maintenance activities. DBA activities included support to offshore development team for development activities. Support and maintenance of databases onsite by including offshore db changes to the deployment scripts. These deployment scripts were then sent to the onsite dba to sync the onsite development and testing databases with the changes made offshore.

Participant Record Keeping System (PRKS) – CMP to SP conversion project – StateStreet - PRKS is an Invest ment banking module which deals with maintenance of Funds, Account Holders in these funds and the distribution of Capital Gains, Income generated by these funds. This is a migration project which required migration of the Java application code from Weblogic 7 to Weblogic 9.2, migration of database from Oracle 8i to Oracle 10g and conversion of all SQL in the application into Stored. Procedures. Using ERWin templates to generate generic code.

Money Markets for FxAll trading platform - FXall is an electronic trading platform offering customers foreign currency trade execution, access to research, and straight through processing (STP).  FXall has a trading platform for foreign exchange trading. A similar platform was to be created for Money Markets trading.

RKS – Report Extracts – StateStreet - These are reports of data extracted from the RKS system. The user extracts are to facilitate business users of the RKS system to pull data out of the intermediate staging database (RKS Outbound Repository) where pertinent RKS system data would be populated at a predefined interval.

Portfolio View System –StateStreet -  This is a project for viewing the portfolio data for a customer to analyse the health of the portfolio over a period of time. The customer can also maintain multiple portfolios in a single group and compare the portfolios on dates, currencies etc for various features of the portfolio. This was a reporting project to analyse the portfolio details of the customers.

Some of the customized modules include

Enhancements to DSA Incentive logic to give Incentives for Credit Card and Insurance sales along with Saving and Current Account sales. Amortisation of fees collected from the Customer for a Loan granted, development of various reports required by the bank.

Customer Telecalling Project – This is a project where the bank required a telecalling module for the call center to get feedback from the customer on services rendered and also informing him about the new features the bank offers. Gathering the requirements for the project from business team, preparing the design document, designing the database table architecture, guiding a team of developers, developing some of the modules.

Database Consistency Checks : Considering the large number of tables in FINACLE, the volumes of data they handle, the interdependence of data between tables  and the complexity of the software there is a great risk of data becoming inconsistent either due to bugs in the code or due to database updates made on site. A batch program was developed which would run checks on data in related tables and generate a report of all inconsistent records.
