God's Word for the day

The right spirit in giving alms

My child do not mix reproach with your good deeds,

or spoil you gift by harsh words

Does not the dew give relief from the scorching heat?

So a word is better than a gift

Indeed does not a word surpass a good gift?

Both are to be found in a gracious person

A fool is ungracious and abusive

and the gift of a grudging giver makes the eyes dim

Sirach 18:15-18

A tree and its fruit

A good tree cannot bear bad fruit,

nor can a bad tree bear good fruit

Every tree that does not bear good fruit

is cut down and thrown into the fire

Thus you will know them by their fruits

Mathew 7:18-20
