Building your first Struts application - downloads

Download and install the required version of java jdk and the jre.

To download an earlier version of JAVA you can go the the archive site and download

Set the JAVA_HOME and the PATH variables.

E:\install\apache-tomcat-6.0.0\apache-tomcat-6.0.0\webapps\strutsapp>echo %JAVA_HOME%

E:\install\jdk

The PATH env variable should have the following as one of its PATH variables.

E:\install\jdk\jdk\bin;

For my development I have installed an earlier version of JAVA on a Windows 10 OS.

java_ee_sdk-5_07-jdk-6u16-windows.exe

jre-6u21-windows-i586-s.exe

Download a suitable version of the tomcat web server from the following site.

If you want an earlier version you can go to the archives site and download the required version.

For my development I have downloaded the tomcat version 6 from the site below.

You need to download a blank struts project from the struts.apache.org download site

Download a Release

If you need an earlier version of the struts release you can download it from the apache archive site

For earlier versions, care must be taken to download the correct version of struts blank project.

For struts versions 1.1, a safe option is the struts 1.2.7 blank project.
